How do I get my business mentioned by ChatGPT or Google AI?

By · Facts checked Oct 8, 2026

The short answer

No one can guarantee it, but you can improve your odds: let AI search crawlers in, publish clear answers to your buyers' questions in plain HTML text, keep your Google Business Profile complete, and earn mentions on other trusted sites. Google says no special AI optimizations are needed beyond standard SEO.

Start with access. OpenAI says sites that block OAI-SearchBot will not appear in ChatGPT search answers. Anthropic runs Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User, and blocking them may reduce your visibility in Claude. Check your robots.txt file and firewall settings.

For Google, a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. Google says there are no extra technical requirements for AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Next, write answers. Give each common buyer question its own page or section. Put the direct answer first, then details, prices, and sources. Keep the text in the HTML, since many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript.

Local businesses should verify and complete their Google Business Profile. Google says accurate details, reviews, and links from other sites help local ranking. It also says no one can pay for a better local rank.

Even then, mentions are not promised. OpenAI says several factors decide ChatGPT search results, and a spot is not guaranteed. Sovereo Web Works tracks AI citations monthly so you can see what changes.
