SOVEREO WEB WORKS

Should I use an AI website builder or hire someone?

By · Facts checked Oct 8, 2026

The short answer

An AI website builder is fine for a simple, low-stakes site on a small budget. Hire someone if buyers research you before they buy, because the site then needs accurate, original, sourced answers in text that search and AI crawlers can read, which builders do not guarantee.

AI builders are fast and cheap. Blacksmith Agency's 2026 guide puts a simple DIY site around $500 to build. For a new business that needs a basic presence, that can be enough.

The risks show up in content. Google warns that using AI to make many pages without adding value can break its spam policy on scaled content. It asks site owners to fact check all AI-generated text before publishing.

Code matters too. Vercel found major AI crawlers, including OpenAI's and Anthropic's, do not run JavaScript. If a builder loads your text with scripts, these crawlers may miss it.

Example: a consultant launches an AI-built site in a weekend. It looks polished, but the service pages repeat generic claims any competitor could make. Nothing on it answers the questions clients actually ask.

A middle path works for many owners: use a builder, then pay for an expert review of content and structure. Sovereo Web Works builds answer-driven sites for owners who prefer to hand it off, quoted after a free AI visibility check.
